EuroBrake™ Mechanical Override Brake Systems are simple to install, require minimal maintenance, and provide an excellent braking and towing experience.
Mechanical override brakes are widely used around the world and are the system of choice for light commercial trailers in Europe. EuroBrake uses Knott components, a trusted brand that has approximately 60% of light commercial trailer component market in the EU.
How it works
In any towing situation as the tow vehicle slows the trailer applies forward pressure on the coupling and tow ball until the trailer brakes are applied.
With mechanical override brakes (or surge brakes) the forward pressure on the coupling is used to apply the brakes with no lag, or need for electronics. The coupling directly translates the forward pressure to apply the brakes.
The brakes are applied proportionally to the tow vehicles slowing. The harder the tow vehicle brakes, the greater the force applied to the coupling head, the harder the trailer brakes are applied giving a smooth, proportional, synchronised braking experience.
Mechanical override brakes mean there is no need to adjust or tune the brakes depending on the load of the trailer making trailers fitted with EuroBrake easy and convenient to use.
There are no electronics or hydraulics required to use EuroBrake, meaning any suitably rated vehicle with a tow ball can hook up and go.
