Q: Can I request for kit customisation?

A: Yes, you can reach out to Treadway for additional components like wheels, hose kits, etc. You can also ask for axle customisation to further streamline your build.

Q: What are the benefits of a 12-pin system vs 7-pin?

A: The 12-pin system carries additional power lines that can run the hydraulic actuator. This means the trailer braking system is not being powered by the battery when connected to the vehicle, removing the risk of brake failure due to a flat battery.

Q. Why does this kit have a 10ah battery?

A: A battery with a 10 Ah rating will last twice as long as a battery with a 5 Ah rating when used under similar conditions.

Q: What maintenance is required for the G1600 Alpha?

A: Routine maintenance includes checking hydraulic fluid levels, inspecting for leaks, and ensuring all electrical connections are secure. Using high-quality DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid is recommended for optimal performance.

Q: Is the electric brake controller compatible with all towing vehicles?

A: The Elecbrake controller can be mounted on any trailer and towed by any vehicle, provided that the fully loaded weight of the trailer does not exceed the braking system’s rated capacity and the tow vehicle is equipped with a compatible 12V or 24V power supply.

Q: What happens if the Bluetooth connection drops?

A: Elecbrakes scans for a connection every 2/100ths of a second and will automatically reconnect. However, a loss of Bluetooth connectivity does not affect the trailer’s braking ability. The system will continue to operate based on the last saved settings. The only functions that would be temporarily unavailable are manual override and program changes via the remote. If the connection does drop, the driver can pull over and reconnect, but this is a rare occurrence.

Q: Can I use a handheld remote?

A: Yes, our EOH braking system can be controlled from a handheld remote, a mobile device, Android Auto or Apple Car Play.

Q: Can I use both the app and the handheld remote at the same time?

A: Elecbrakes only connects to one device at a time for safety. To use the handheld remote, the app must first be disconnected from the Elecbrakes unit.
